Atex Brings Newspaper Content to users of Microsofts Syndicated Client Experiences Reader
Friday 31. October 2008 - ¡ Atex announces the availability of a new software connector for Content Management customers to publish news and information to the Microsoft Syndicated Client Experiences Reader
Atex, the worlds largest provider of mission-critical software solutions and services to the global media industry, announces the release of a new software connector that integrates its Content Management solutions with the Microsoft Syndicated Client Experiences (SCE) Reader. Thanks to the Atex connector, each publication produced through Atex Content Management solutions can be repurposed for use in Microsofts SCE Reader application which provides for a premier on-screen reading experience.
The Microsoft SCE Reader is available to partners and publishers as part of the Microsoft Syndicated Client Experiences (SCE) Starter Kit & Reader SDK, a complete solution that makes it easy for publishers to build and deploy rich and compelling news experiences, either optimized for the Windows platform using Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), or for browser-based and mobile news experiences using Microsoft Silverlight. The SCE Reader is a feature rich application that utilizes WPFs advanced text and layout capabilities to present a high-quality news reading experience on computer and mobile device screens, and it also supports innovative ways of advertising in news content.
The Atex connector can operate on both published and unpublished content, by restructuring sections and topics to be easily readable on a PC screen. The Atex solution allows contents updates during the day, to provide readers with a continuous news cycle. Human intervention for content aggregation and editing is minimal, since the connector leverages all metadata and information in the Content Management system to automate the repurposing processes. The integration is currently released for all Atex Hermes customers and will be soon available for other Atex platforms.
“Atex’s strategic vision for Content Management is to help publishers in the transition from print-centric workflows to customer-centric content production and delivery,” says Roberto Antoniotti, head of Atexs Content Management Division. “The Microsoft SCE Reader is a very interesting technology to bring younger audiences closer to newspapers. We are now offering a tool to our customers by which they will be able to activate this new channel with a low impact on their current operations, whilst retaining all potential benefits of the technology.”
“We are excited to be working with Atex,” says Kevin Gjerstad, Group Program Manager, .Net Developer Platforms at Microsoft Corp. “Publishers have asked for solutions that enable a single news feed and content workflow to be used across channels and news applications, on the desktop as well as in browsers and on devices. Atexs support for the WPF- and Silverlight-based SCE Readers makes it much easier for publishers to achieve that goal.”
